Phenomenal news!!!

Phenomenal news!!! I just found out that I am going to be an aunt...again. My brother, Rich, and his wife, Angie, are going to have a baby May 6!!! I am so excited.

So I've got a couple of weeks of teaching under my belt and I think I might be getting the hang of it. It was rough at first getting up before the sun and going to bed dangerously close to single digits but it is starting to balance out and I can now almost keep my eyes open past 11 o'clock. Yes, I see a social life again somewhere in my future. But that is the worst of it. I love teaching! My classes although frustrating at times are phenomenal. I know it is a cliche but today I was helping one of my students with math homework after school and you could see the light go on; it was really cool. So yeah I'm having a good time. Today I got to help stop my first fight in the stairwell; that was exciting. I kept pushing students back that wanted to join the fun. It took four male teachers (big guys) to break these to tiny girls apart. It was crazy stuff. I never thought I'd hear the words come out of my mouth, but there I was pushing kids back and telling them to "go to class." I'm jumping from topic to topic here but more exciting news...all of my kids have tests tomorrow. I don't have to write any lesson plans tonight. How fabulous is that?!? I now know why my teachers liked giving tests on Fridays because all I have to do tomorrow is show up and watch for cheaters. Ahhhh...life is very different on the other side of the desk.

Water Polo/first day of school

I love watching Water Polo. I really do miss playing. But since I'm not playing, the next best thing is watching the game. Right now, I'm watching the Olympic men's team play Serbia and they were getting their butts kicked. Now, they are trying to make a come back, it looks like a completely different team then that which played the last quarter. People that yell at the TV during sports have always amused me. The players can't hear you and yet they continue to yell. However, today I found myself yelling at the TV in frustration and then delight and then frustration. Its amusing.
So, I had my first day of school today, it was very exciting. The students don't come back until next week but the interns go back with the teachers so I have meetings all week. I am stoked about being in my internship and finally having the opportunity to apply some of the knowledge that I have been soaking up. I can tell already that the semester is going to involve a lot of work but nothing more then I can handle. So yeah, that's about it. I still haven't met my mentor teacher so I'll get back to you on that.
Well, I'm off to get my hair done and I will talk to you later.

Babysitting

I babysat today for the first time in years. We had a tea party with Barbie, built a park with legos, played on the swingset, cooked a meal in a play kitchen and dressed up like a princess (well technically only the little girl I was babysitting for dressed up, the clothes didn't fit me.) I had forgotten how much fun it was to be a kid.

Less then 48 hours before summer is over and the school year starts :(
